VDP des Cotes Catalanes Blanc “Cuvee Marguerite”, Domaine Matassa, France 2013
Tom Lubbe is a New Zealander who went to South Africa where he made the famous Observatory Wines in Swartland. Frustrated by regulations that prevented him from making wines in a style that exalted the exceptional terroir of the region, he moved to France and settled in the Roussillon. He worked for the legendary Gerard Gauby and ended up marrying his daughter.
This wine is generous, warm and round, with smells of those great Sicilian lemons, skin, pith and juice. A good intensity of flavour without too much weight. A very pleasant and easy-drinking wine.
