Shiraz, Moonambel, Dalwhinnie Estate, Victoria, Australia, 2009
Dalwhinnie's head winemaker says that this wine reminds him of the great ’94 vintage and is "probably the best Moonambel Shiraz" they have made. We agree. It's a self indulgent fireside red if ever there was one but you'll see us enjoying it all year round.
Fiery aromas of dark plums, blackberries and subtle vanilla oak, with undertones of cloves, nutmeg and baked earth. A firm, dark and minty palate, robust and astringent, with a good length of cassis, blackberries and chocolatey oak. It has lingering suggestions of menthol on the finish. A great wine, but may need time to be at its peak.
