Bandol Domaine Lafran Veyrolles 2011
Mourvèdre at its best! Warm, slightly wild, but fabulously ripe fruit, fully integrated with oak. This is 80% Mourvèdre, 20% a mixture of Carignan, Grenache and Cinsault. It has complex, different nuances emerging such as fresh earth, black pepper, grilled meat, and black fruits like blackberry, prune and blackcurrant. The finish is fresh and classy, with rounded tannins- can be drunk now or equally will keep just as well.. A great way to discover Mourvèdre, and like a traditional British gentleman, silky smooth with a stiff upper lip, generous but serious. A great wine.
