Sancerre, Le Vigne Blanche, Henri Bourgeois, Loire Valley, France 2015
In 1950, the Henri Bourgeois estate, in the village of Sancerre, consisted of 2 hectares. Today, his sons have expanded the Domaine to 65 hectares of vines, situated among the best slopes of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé in the Loire Valley. Dedication to quality also means separate vinification of individual parcels, gravity feed-based system in the cellars and close monitoring of the wines from the lees to the bottling.
This Sancerre is mid-yellow in colour with green glints. Initial aromas of asparagus and elderflower lead to a flinty nose and a mineral-edged palate, broadening and ripening in the mouth with a delicious full tangy grapefruit finish.
