Vin de Pays de l’Herault Blanc, Domaine Leon Barral, Languedoc Roussillon, France 2013
Situated at Lentheric in the Languedoc appellation of Faugeres and recently voted one of the top 50 estates in the world, Didier Barral makes some of the finest wines in southern France. The 25ha estate, named after Didier's father, is completely biodynamic, yields are tiny and only wild yeasts are used in the vinification process.
The Vin de Pays Blanc is an aromatic blend of Terrets Gris and Blanc, Viognier and Roussanne and is lightly oaked and unfiltered. A pale straw-yellow in colour, intensely dry, and a very aromatic nose of mangoes, pineapple and honey, this makes for a perfect aperitif. On the palate this is dry and full-bodied, displaying further tropical fruit and citrus flavours. The finish is crisp and lively making this an excellent food wine- try with all sorts of seafood and shellfish.
